The Journey…

This journey is not for the faint hearted, but its a journey that we have entered without warning. Its a journey that has taught me so many things from opening up to following my intuition to discover rewards come many forms, you just need to trust that they will come…

No matter what anyone may say it will take time for you to see how you can turn obstacles into opportunities. Life will be filled with chaos and disaster along with emotions you may have never experienced.

You will question many things and wonder how you will survive as the impact of having a child with Autism adds a whole new dimension to how you look at and approach life. The path you were on begins to look very different…

You will have those that will embrace this journey with you and there will be those that will not know what to do, distancing themselves in time. Yes it will hurt, but know that sometimes it’s hurting them as much as it is hurting us, to see what we go through.

Some people can endure this and others just don’t know how to help. Often we just need them to be our friend but they can’t see this as we are struggling in a world that many haven’t been in…

You will need Strength, Persistence, Commitment, Perseverance, Patience, Will Power and Endurance to make it through. None of which come naturally, as they are skills you will develop as you experience the highs and lows that occur on this journey.

These skills are beyond the everyday life skills that we have mastered. They go deeper and often beyond what you may have ever imagined yourself dealing with at any given time in your life…

It will impact your mental, emotional and physical well-being so you will need to nurture you or before you know it you will crumble slowly sliding into the darkness and trust me its not easy to find your way out, no matter what anyone says…

Make sure you are doing what is best for you as well as your family. The situation will impact everyone in different ways and as a parent it is our job to ensure that all flows well as we are at the heart of all that happens and therefore the one that keeps everything going…

You won’t be told this but know you are the most important person and no matter how hard you push yourself to do the best for your child, the progress they make is guided by you and if you crumble who is going to pick up the pieces to ensure everything continues…

Being at the heart of all that goes on you need to come first. It is a hard lesson to learn, trust me I have been there, but when you do realise the value it can be one of the greatest steps you take for everyone…

Don’t give up. Your desire to do what it takes to transform things needs to be greater than what you are experiencing no matter what is happening, otherwise the lows will consume you before you have been nurtured with enough highs to keep you going…

Most of all remember to embrace each day as a new beginning by leaving yesterdays obstacles behind you by turning them into an opportunity for you to embrace as the new day begins…

Today I ask you to take time to acknowledge the past as this is how we learn and grow and then step into the now and look at what you can do to move forward so you can become the best version of you on this journey…

From a Mum that has changed the way she approaches this journey by looking within and connecting with her son in ways many may have not have to guide him to become the best version of himself while leaving an imprint in many hearts as well…
