Mindulness

Being mindful on a journey where your head is consumed with thoughts daily is not always easy, which is why I wish to share with you my ‘Five Tips to Mindfulness’.

It is a way of life that can be achieved by all of us if we choose. I am not saying it will happen today but I am not saying you can’t start today, as the value will be more than you can see at this point in time of your journey.  By implementing these five simple and easy tips you will find that it will open your mind, as you will begin clearing thoughts that have no value. You will gain clarity where you found it difficult before and you will start finding solutions to your own questions without it being a challenge…

Five Tips to Mindfulness

1. Read the book ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ by Louise Hay.

This for me was one of the turning points in my journey.  It gave me insight into areas of my life that I would never of seen if this book had not been recommended to me.  It opened my heart and mind in ways that I wasn’t able to previously.  Most of all it opened the door to many new opportunities.

2. Relaxation Music

See the value in playing relaxation music at night.  For me I found this amazing app called Relax Melodies.  It can be personalised with all sorts of sounds to suit all individuals.  Trust me it has been such a valuable investment in me.  Even though I would be asleep before my head hit the pillow some nights I was not getting the quality sleep I needed.  This was an opportunity to block out all they incidental noises that you may usually hear, along with creating a meditation opportunity while I sleep each night… I know for some this is may seem strange but give it a go as honestly it creates peace within as you lay down listening to the tunes you have selected and what a better way to end your day…

3. Have a Daily To Do ListTo Do List

Yes, I know it seems very simple, but so many have them and don’t use them to their benefit.  This list you need to write down. Its not to be one in your head as this never works when chaos hits the ground.  Your list needs to be achievable.  It needs to have all the things you do often on it too. Yes, I’m talking about the washing, folding, stripping and making beds, vacuum etc and the best time to do this is before you go to bed… Get those thoughts out of your head so you can have quality sleep.  If you don’t I promise you they are going to be racing around all night fighting to be the one at the top of your mental list.

By doing this you will not only have cleared space in your head at night, when you wake of a morning you know what you need to be doing.  When things don’t go to plan you have a list to look back on, to remind you of what you are meant to be doing and the best one of all its a great way to acknowledge all the work that you do as you are able to see on paper what you have done on your list each day…

4. Clarity

Finding clarity was something I yearned for, as life was consumed by way to many things. My thoughts were going at 100 miles an hour and I kept darting all over the place without focus…  My head was filled with too many things and I needed to change this. Now meditation was something I always wanted to do but finding something that allowed for me and my thoughts that wonder involuntarily was not easy.  I also found the voice on some would purely drive me crazy which is why I highly recommend an app called Headspace.  It explains the processes your mind uses and they teach you to allow thoughts to come and go while you are meditating, plus they remind you to re-focus which was what I loved most…  Take the time to start your day with this amazing app and see how mindfulness can be created quite easily…

5.  Gratitude12669136_10207254495653033_8255200_o

To create mindfulness in our life we need to appreciate what we do have and yes I understand it may not always feel easy to seek this on a low day, but it is something that can be achieved if we take a deep breathe and see the value in the possessions we do have.  It may only be something small or simple as the sun is shining today or a flower blooming in the garden and soon you will start to see many more exciting things that surround you.

What I would also like to suggest is that you create yourself a ‘Happy Hurricane’.  This can be a bowl, jar, vase, whatever you may have that will inspire you to use.  Each time something happens that made you happy you write a note and place it in your hurricane…  Then on the days you are feeling low, defeated or like you have failed, all these moments are their to remind you of the success you have achieved….

Now it’s time to take these 5 tips and action them into your life and see how your world begins to change…
